I met with the samplemaker today to discuss the laptop sleeves and purse organizer, and it seems that this guy is great at execution, but not very good at problem-solving. He needs patterns and detailed instructions for every single little piece of the construction. At first I was somewhat disgruntled about having to hold his hand through the process, but then I realized that I’ve wasted hundreds of dollars on 2 manufacturers that gave me samples with at least one fatal flaw. I’ve learned my lesson that it’s probably better to be super-meticulous upfront than to rush through a process and risk having the end product look kinda crappy.
So I’ve enlisted the help of the contractor from Nashville again, who will help me with some technical guidance. I’m actually excited to work with him again because I’ve now had experience working with other people in this industry, and I appreciate his strengths even more now.
And finally, I just got confirmation today that almost all of my production fabrics will be ready this month! Too bad I have nowhere to deliver it. I’m probably going to have to get it delivered to my apartment, and soon my new storage closet will be vacuum-sealed from all of the fabric I’ll stuff in there.
